A workshop was held on 24th to 27th July 2012 at the Vietnam-Korea Centre for Environment Research and Training in Hanoi. This was the first meeting between scientists from CSIRO and researchers from the Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Environment (IMHEN), and Hanoi University of Science (HUS) to coordinate efforts for the High-resolution Climate Projections Vietnam (HCPV) project, including:
  • Exchanging of information about observed climate trends in Vietnam
  • Discussing recent studies on climate change based on global and regional climate models over Vietnam
  • Planning for climate change projections based on regional climate models
  • Identifying specific areas for collaboration in the future using downscaling simulations from CSIRO’s Conformal Cubic Atmospheric Model (CCAM)
  • Providing capacity building and training for researchers on CCAM model simulations, analyses and interpretations of results
  • Engagement with wider stakeholders groups to better understand climate projection needs
